What is your name and role?

My name is Natasha, and I am a Baby Room Leader and Nursery SENDCO.

What fills your heart with happiness about your role?

Seeing the babies learn and develop in my room fills my heart with happiness. I love seeing children achieve their next steps, creating a warm and caring environment where they can feel comfortable and secure.

How did you get your career started?

At college I studied Health and Social Care and really enjoyed the early years aspect, completing work experience in nurseries and schools. I then went on to Study BA Honours in Early Childhood Studies at university. Once I had completed this, I went on to work in an early years setting where I found my passion for working with early years and children with SEND.

What opportunities have you had or are accessing with Monkey Puzzle to develop and progress your career?

I have opportunities to complete online training, in-house training on INSET days and I have amazing support from my management team who are there to advise me if I’m unsure of anything. I also have an opportunity to request for further training when I wish to, I completed my Level 3 SENCO course through Monkey Puzzle and it has given me all the knowledge and skills I have, to further support me in my role.

What is your potential next step?

I would love to continue working with children with SEND, I would also see myself teaching in the future.

What would you say to anyone with a choice of Early Years Childcare as a possible career path?

If you have a passion for working with children, it is an amazing job and is very rewarding, especially when you see children achieve things and you get to watch them grow and develop.
