Cheltenham Monkey Puzzle Raise £150 for Comic Relief!

We love Comic Relief here at Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries. Not only do you get to spend most of the day laughing out loud, but you also get to have fun raising money for the good causes they support.

The team down in Cheltenham were determined to do both, having fun while raising as much money as possible. It was part of a concerted effort by children, teachers and carers across the whole of Gloucestershire, ranging from cake sales to (my favourite) throwing sponges at colleagues and teachers.

On the day, it seemed as if the whole of the county was covered in a sea of red as everybody got into the spirit dressing up in red and donning the iconic red nose.

At our Monkey Puzzle day nursery in Cheltenham the fund raising began early, with a cake sale at the beginning of the week which got the fund off to a great start, not to mention the yummy cakes that were consumed. All the staff, children and parents got involved and many thanks to all who took part.

The rest of the week saw the children turning up in all kinds of Comic Relief themed costumes and some particularly crazy red hairdos.

It all culminated in my favourite past time and, by the look of the children’s faces, theirs too, a good old fashioned wet sponge throwing contest, you’ll be pleased to know that all the kids have an excellent aim!

All in all a highly fun and productive week with everybody raising a cool £150, which hopefully will end up putting a smile on the faces of those children less fortunate.

Well done Cheltenham Monkey Puzzle we’re all proud of you! Why not like their Facebook Page and see all the fun for yourself. Also if you want to find out more about Cheltenham Monkey Puzzle Nursery visit their web site.

Nursery Staff Told To Sleep At Work During Olympic Games.

Olympics logoIt is obvious that with London hosting the World’s biggest sporting event, that there will be disruption to everyday life in our capital city.

Millions of people will descend on London whether to attend a sporting event or simply enjoy the atmosphere of what promises to be a historic event.

Because of this nurseries have been told to provide camp beds so staff can can sleep over to ensure a service for working parents. Managers have warned that nurseries will be forced to close if childcare staff are late for work.

Measures are already being taken to limit disruption with nurseries stockpiling nappies, ordering food to be delivered during the night and preparing to sleep at work to cope with the predicted traffic chaos.

Importantly there is also a call for Ofsted to temporarily relax staff to child ratios, current rules state that nurseries have one member of staff for every 3 children under the age of 2. Chief Executive of the London Early Years Foundation, June O’Sullivan said, “We will write to Ofsted saying they might need to be understanding that there may be unplanned situations where we are not in ratio.” she added “Life isn’t always neat and simple. Nobody wants to do anything that will make things unsafe for children.”

Neighbouring nursery franchises have already started pairing up so that if one does not have enough staff to open, children can go to the other one.

This may sound like drastic measures, but shouldn’t affected nurseries do what is needed to ensure childcare provision is continuous? This is a hard one and I’m sure nursery staff will have their own thoughts on the matter!

New Day Nurseries Open!

Well 2012 has only just begun, and here at Monkey Puzzle Day Nurseries we have hit the ground running!  Our sister company Monkey Puzzle Nursery Franchise have been hard at work supporting two existing franchisees in opening the latest additions in Wigston, Leicster and a second nursery in St Albans.

Our South West England Regional Development Manager and franchisee Sanj Khaira is behind the launch in Wigston and may need to invest in a sat nav, as the last time I looked Wigston was most definitely in the West Midlands! But his undoubted knowledge and skills will ensure that Monkey Puzzle, Wigston will be a great success.

Another existing franchisee, Amanda Griffith has added to her existing St Alban’s day nursery by opening a second due to overwhelming demand for her childcare services.

Both are taking bookings fast so if you are looking for expert childcare provision in those areas contact Sanj or Amanda soon!
